5th Grade Parent Orientation - Information Page
Welcome ~ to our school web page for parents of incoming 5th graders to BRMS.
We hope that all the information and links posted below will assist you and your child as you transition from the elementary school to the exciting world of the middle schooler - at an exciting school!
All families that reside in the Pittsford School District will receive a letter from the BRMS Princiapl Mr. Pero and the PTSA. This letter outlines the process for transition to BRMS.
There is a link to the PowerPoint slide show presented by Mr. Pero at the 5th grade Parent orientation evening March 25, 2010. And there is a link to a view of current 6th graders sharing their thoughts about coming to Barker Road when they were 5th graders!
Dates to remember for 2010:
April 30 BRMS 5th Grade FUN NIGTH, hosted by PTSA 7:00- 8:30pm this event is for currently enrolled 5th grade PCSD students
Sneak Previews: May 24 -Mendon Center Elementary May 27 -Thornell Road Elementary May 28- Park Road Elementary Sneak Previews are 45 minute school visits during the day to familiarize students with BRMS so that they make a smooth transition in the fall. If your child is currently in a private or parochial school and will be attending BRMS next year, they are invited to come to any one of the above dates.
August last week date TBA: - 6th Grade Orientation for parents and students information about this event will be sent to you later in the year
Optimum placement of students involves information gathering from many people. In the event that you would like to share information about your child's placement, parent input should be submitted in writing to Mr. Pero, Principal of BRMS no later than April 16th. This letter should include special skills, talents, academic strengths, learning styles of your child and / or areas of concern. Student program and Team structure limit our capacity to accept requests for placement on a specific Team or with friends. Team placement and the concept of teaming will be shared during our April 2nd meeting.
