I am Jacky Fields, your Instructional Technology Specialist. I am in charge of the lab, as well as a number of other activities. Please browse the links to the left to find out some of the projects I am working on as well as some of my responsibilities to the district.
I received my Master's Degree in Education with a specialty in Instructional Technology in the classroom. My undergraduate degree was granted back in the dark ages (nothing digital) in Communications from Ithaca College. While my own three children were young, I worked at the Bayview YMCA in pre-school programs, and I was a life guard. I started the first latch-key program at Harris Hill School in Penfield. When the Apple II computers came out, our family purchased one. I found it very useful! I created a database of all the books our church had for its children.
I worked later at a company which paid commissions and I created a spread sheet to figure those payments. I seemed to have an affinity with computers. I always said if I were 10 years younger I would have majored in computers. The internet was just coming out when we moved to England for two years. What a difference it would have made if we moved two years later! The minute we got home we signed up for internet service and email. We all used it! That was when you had to worry about how many minutes you spent on the internet and paid accordingly! We learned to watch the clock and work efficiently on-line.
When my children were entering their college years I started back to work full time at another school district. I was the AV-computer paraprofessional. I worked for 4 years getting myself up-to-date, and was then hired by BOCES to work for the Pittsford School District. In 2002 I was hired directly by the district as an Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) at Allen Creek School. At Allen Creek, we have grown together, the staff and I. We are all fairly computer literate, and together we have created some exciting projects for our wonderful children.
