Karl Thielking, Mendon High School Principal

Mr. Thielking has been principal of Mendon High School since July 2000. Between Williamson and Fairport high schools he spent 19 years in the classroom teaching Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Earth Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science. He coached various sports over 17 years including boys and girls volleyball, track and field, and wrestling. At Williamson High School he was Marching Band Director for 6 years. Mr. Thielking's career in administration began in Greece Central Schools where he served as an Assistant Principal for two years and then as Principal of Greece Athena High School for two years.

Mr. Thielking obtained his Bachelors Degree in general Science at the University of Rochester where he majored in Physics and Mathematics. He holds his Masters Degree in Science Curriculum from the U of R. Most recently, Mr. Thielking received his Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.

 

Mr. Thielking's hobbies include camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and beach combing. He was a Boy Scout Leader and is a member of the Leadership Training Board of The Sigma Chi International Fraternity. Mr. Thielking is currently the President of the Monroe County Principals Association and on the Board of Directors of the School Administrators Association of New York State.
