In a special ceremony on June 5, 2025, fourth grade students from Pittsford’s Thornell Road Elementary School shared their newly published book, “Our Shining Stars of Freedom: The Stories of Our Veteran Heroes,” with the local veterans who inspired its pages.
As part of a class project led by teacher Mrs. Stevens-Oliver, students interviewed 19 veterans to learn about their service and lives. The resulting book, a collection of those personal stories, was officially presented during a special event at the school attended by the veterans and several distinguished guests.
SHS Tennis Court Upgrades Underway
Construction work is on track with work underway on the Sutherland High School tennis courts. The base and drainage for the courts are being set, and construction will continue through the summer. As an outdoor athletic area, the construction will be affected by weather conditions and could continue into the fall. While work is underway, tennis sports and activities will all occur at Mendon High School.
Pittsford Village Waterline Project
The Pittsford Village is working on a waterline installation, related to the Westport Crossing residential project, in front of the Sutherland High School campus and on Sutherland Street. As a result, most of the sidewalk on Sutherland Street is closed off as crews work to lay the new water line.
