    Philosophy of Education

Real learning happens most readily when it is pleasurable, personal, useful, and driven by the learner.  We value most the knowledge that we can apply to our own experiences, and that enlightens and enriches our lives and minds.  In the end there is very little difference between teaching and learning; it is the shared encounter, the discussion, the journey, that comprises our education.

"Along with education...we need to develop more altruism and a sense of caring and responsibility for others in the minds of the younger generation... This can be done without necessarily involving religion. One could therefore call this 'secular ethics,' as it in fact consists of basic human qualities such as kindness, compassion, sincerity and honesty."  --The Dalai Lama
