"In our classroom, we agree to..."
-
It is always my mission to make sure that students in our classroom feel safe and cared for, feel a part of the decision making process in the classroom, and feel that they have the skills they need to contribute to our classroom, school, and the community.
During the first few days of school, the students and I will be creating our class compact. We will discuss our expectations for our classroom environment and how we plan to achieve our mission in second grade. This compact will not simply be words on the wall. Our compact is our mutual goal, and it describes our expectations for our behavior, attitudes, and effort in the classroom that will allow us to achieve our goal. Our class compact will proudly be displayed in our classroom. Students will also bring home a copy during the first week of school to share with their families. Weekly, we will reflect on our behaviors and discuss whether or not our behaviors match our compact.
