Pittsford Central School District is seeking qualified volunteer community members to fill open positions on its Inclusivity Advisory Committee, which was established in 2018, to provide guidance to the Superintendent of Schools regarding systems, structures, policies, regulations and experiences related to inclusivity.

The purpose of the Inclusivity Advisory Committee is to ensure that PCSD is a place where students, families and staff members feel a sense of acceptance, connectedness, and validation – a place where diversity and differences are viewed as strengths. The committee meets monthly from 3:30-5:30 p.m. to analyze multiple types of various stakeholder data in order to better understand and identify the District’s strengths and areas in need of improvement.

The 21-member advisory committee includes a diverse cross section of volunteers who were selected by the District Planning Team (DPT) after an open application/screening process, based on their experience with diversity and inclusion topics such as culture, disabilities, ethnicity, gender and sexual identity and equity, mental health, race, religion, interfaith and others. Among the committee are 10 community members.

Volunteer community members will need to commit to the following tasks:

    • Regular meeting attendance
    • Adherence to collaboratively established committee norms
    • Active listening and participation through meetings
    • Representation and communication with constituency group
    • Participation on relevant sub-committee or ad hoc committees, if needed
    • Review of data/information aligned to the purpose and goals of the committee
    • Respect recommendations made by consensus and adhere to collaborative decisions

In addition, applicants should have experience or expertise in diversity and inclusion related to the following areas:

    • Culture
    • Disabilities
    • Ethnicity
    • Gender and sexual identity and equity
    • Mental health
    • Race
    • Religion and interfaith

If you are interested in participating on this committee, please send your resume, letter of interest and two references to Superintendent of Schools Michael Pero at michael_pero@pittsford.monroe.edu. District staff and members of the DPT will screen the initial applications, and depending on the quantity, a subset of the DPT may call selected candidates for a brief interview. If it is determined that interviews are necessary, the above sub-committee will make final recommendations to the entire DPT. All of the candidates will be notified of the outcome via email.

The application process will be open until November 19, 2021. Selected candidate(s) may be asked to begin participating as soon as December 15, 2021.
