Library Standards

    The Library Media instructional program is based on the national standards of the American Association of School Librarians.  These standards promote inquiry-based learning and foster the development of foundational, transferable skills that students will use to continue learning throughout their lives. Students are encouraged and empowered to become independent thinkers, skilled researchers, and creative communicators. 


    STANDARD 1
    Learners use skills, resources, and tools to inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge.

    STANDARD 2

    Learners use skills, resources, and tools to draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create new knowledge.

    STANDARD 3

    Learners use skills, resources, and tools to share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our global society.

    STANDARD 4
    Learners use skills, resources, and tools to pursue personal, intellectual, and aesthetic growth.
