Middle School Fitnessgram Information for Parents & Students

  • Due to Technical difficulties we were unable to use the Fitnessgram software in our normal fashion.  This year we are entering middle school data into Infinite Campus.  Students and parents will be able to view Fitnessgram scores through the parent/student portal.  Please note that these are un-scored assignments and are not part of your child's grade.  Students and Parents can see their score and compare it to established Fitnessgram criterion referenced standards using the chart/table below.

Middle School Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) for Fitnessgram Test components:

    Directions:

    1. Make sure you are looking at the correct chart/table for your, or your child's gender.  The standards are different for each gender in some test components.
    2. Make sure to look across the row for your, or your child's age.  The standards are different for each age group in some test components.
    3. Reflect on the scores vs. the standards.  Are they "in" the HFZ, "above" the HFZ, or "below" the HFZ?  If "in or above" the HFZ, how can a person maintain their fitness for the next year?  If "below" the HFZ, how  can a person improve their fitness for the next year?  Participation in Physical Education is part of the answer, but everyone should be doing things to enhance their fitness outside of school as well.

*This is a minimum number of laps that we have established for the kids to gauge how well they would do based on how many laps they did.  Fitnessgram actually calculates VO2 Max based on gender, age, number of laps, height and weight.  It is a very complex formula – generally if the participant can do 30 or more laps they will score OK in the HFZ.

**The maximum number of curl-ups we can input is 75.

*** The maximum number of inches we can input for this test component is 12 inches.  This is to keep students safe while completing this test component.
