Fourth graders meet for music two times during a six-day cycle.  Our main focuses are singing, moving, creating, improvising, music literacy, and having fun while making music together.  We build upon the skills and concepts learned in previous years to learn more complicated rhythm patterns and create dynamic ensemble pieces.

All students in grades 3-5 will need to have a soprano recorder.  At MCE, we use a model called the Yamaha YRS-23 (German-fingered). It is strongly advised that students have 2 instruments--one for home practice, and one that "lives" at school in a specially marked bin in the music room.  Order forms for new recorders will be sent home in early-mid September.
