All About Me
I am Mrs. Higgins, a 5th grade teacher at Mendon Center Elementary. This school year, 2021-2022, will be my fourteenth year as an elementary teacher and my fifth year teaching 5th grade. I have also taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade!
Growing up, becoming an elementary teacher was my dream career! As a child, I would spend countless hours playing "school". My family still jokes to this day about my "school" days! I am grateful to have pursued my dream path. Every single day brings so much joy--sometimes even the smallest moments of the school day are the greatest!
Prior to beginning my career in the classroom, I completed my Bachelor's Degree at Elmira College (childhood education and Social Studies) and then my Master's Degree at SUNY Brockport (literacy specialist). I taught five years before joining Pittsford Schools--I taught at Albion Central School District and Barker Central School District.
When I am not teaching at Mendon Center Elementary, I spend my time with my two children, Addison and Charles, and my husband. Addie is six and will be in first grade at MCE this year; Charlie is three and goes to preschool at Doodlebugs! Our family also has an awesome dog, Dudley! He is a seven year old weinmaraner. I look forward to sharing stories about Addison, Charlie, and Dudley!
