What's Happening in the Art Room?
Choice Time in art class involves S.T.E.A.M. oriented activites. When students are allowed choice in what they create or experiment with, they are better able to make meaningful and unique artwork as they explore their interests of the moment. The Choice Based approach encourages our future engineers, inventors and innovators. Below are some pictures of a "Choice Center" day in the art room.

If you have baby wipes or plastic take-out soup containers, the art room can use them!

Each month you can visit local artists' studios by attending "First Fridays" in our city. The Rochester area has a number of these kinds of opportunities, as well as "Second Saturdays" at some locations. First Fridays occur on the first Friday of every month.
At artist studios you can purchase artist's work and ask them questions about their process. Some artists will even welcome commissions or hold demonstrations and interactive experiences for children.
You can find exhibits and studios at the Hungerford Building (1115 East Main St), but they are also located at Anderson Arts Building by Village Gate on (250 N. Goodman Street). Memorial Art Gallery (500 University Avenue) offers discounted admission on Thursday nights as well. This is a GREAT opportunity for those of you with a big family.
