     3.) Homework
    Homework will be reviewed in class.
    Students will give their homework a grade based on a 1- 5 scale.

    Students will evaluate their own homework based on the scale below.
    A Student's homework grade is a grade they have given themselves.
    5 = BEST Effort. High Quality. Assignment Completed.
    4 = GOOD Effort. Good Quality. Assignment Completed.
    3 = Assignment needs improvement.
    2 = Assignment needs much improvement. Not Completed.
    1 = NO Effort. Assignment was not attempted.
    1 = Students was present on both the assigned date and due date.
    0 = Student not present on due date. 0 grade can be replaced.
    0 = Student not present on assigned date. 0 grade can be replaced.
    0 = CAN be replaced.
    1-5 Grade can NOT be replaced.
    A grade of zero can always be replaced.
     I define homework as short term assignments that are due the day after they are assigned. Typically, these are pages from our notes that were not completed in class. Completion of these sheets becomes homework that is due the next day.
    If you are absent (for any reason) on a due date, that assignment will be marked as a zero in the grade book. Once the assignment is completed, the zero can be replaced. The student will have the same number of absent days to complete the HW. For example, if the student was absent for 2 days, the student has two days to turn in the missing assignment.

    *Students that miss class due to music lesson are responsible for missed work and assignments with no extension of due date.
    A grade of zero can always be replaced.

     4.) Classroom Performance
    *This is a quick way to let parents know what is taking place in class.
    * This will ONLY be recorded on FULL (5 days) weeks of school.
    At the end of most full weeks, I will assign a class performance grade for each student. This will be based on participation, effort, attitude, and performance in class. Following directions, procedures, and safety guidelines is extremely important in science class and labs. A class performance grade will be assigned each week.

    Obviously, this will be a high grade for students who are on task, following directions, and putting forth high effort with a good attitude. A poor grade here is an indication that improvement needs to be made on behavior, attitude, or performance in class. Students should have a 4 (80%) or higher on Classroom Performance.

    ANY grade lower than a 4 is an indication of a less than desired class performance for that week.
    One grade is used to evaluate the entire week.
    5 = This student is on task, follows directions and procedures, and is an active participant in class.
    4 = Typically, this student does all of the above but needs to participate more.  This grade could also be assigned to a student that needs a few extra reminders to get back on task.
                                                                                            (The goal is to earn a 4 or 5 each full week of school)
    3 or 2 = Typically, this student often needed extra reminders to stay on task and/or to follow directions during that week. A 3 or 2 will be assigned when student demonstrates less than desired class performance over time. In other words, a pattern has developed and needs to be addressed.
    1= This student usually needed reminders to follow directions during that week period. This grade usually signifies that the student is being disruptive in class and/or not following directions and procedures. A grade of 1 is an indication of a serious pattern of undesirable classroom behavior.
