    Mindfulness - 8 Ideas for Students at Home

    1. Write an email or letter.  Someone out there who needs their day brightened.   Coach, Teacher, boss, Grandparent.
    2. Take a walk with a family member. 
    3. Time with your pet- I love my dogs.  They only want 1 thing. Your time.
    4. Breathework - Meditate:   Just take time to find a quiet place, to be alone, and breathe.  Ex. Box Breathe (inhale for 4 seconds, hold breathe at the top for 4 secconds, exhale for 4 seconds and hold breathe at bottom for 4 seconds - Repeat)
    5. Watch an inspirational motive.   A Warriors Heart is my Favorite.
    6. Clean and organize your room.  Parents will be happy and you'll have a sense of accomplishment.
    7. Journal-  Something you'll always will be able to look back on.  It may feel funny when you do it, but has been proven to have some of the best mental and emotional health benefits.
    8. Listen to or Create a Podcast -  Filling yourself up with knowledge is powerful.  Creative expression adds meaning.

     

    In case you missed it...

    1.  PLT4M has updated their Youtube site.   Daily workouts are now available.   No equipment needed.

    2.  Stay active and double up with kindness.   Have an elderly neighbor or relative?  See if you can reconnect.    The W.H.O has changed the term SOCIAL distancing to PHYSICAL distancing.    So don't disconnect from them. .

    • Maybe you can walk their dog.
    • Take their garbage to the curb.
    • Drop groeries at their door. 
    • Visit through a window
    • Clean their lawn of sticks and branches from the wind storm we just had.

     

    Are you out of TicToc ideas and gone through all of the Netflix shows? 

    • Try and stay active.  Uses the resourses made available.   Mix it up! 15 minutes inside and 15 outside.
    • When you go to bed and right when you wake up, try to stay off social media.   A good book, a little meditation.
    • Follow a passion that you may not have had the time to go to before this.    Do something expressively creative- write, music, try programming a game. 
    • I know alot of your parents are working and many are in the medical field.    Remeber being alone and being in solitude can be two different things.   Stay strong and use Social Media to reach out to friends, teachers and family members.
    • Orgainize!  They say, clean space creates a clean mind!  Even if it's just one drawer in your desk, your shoes, or one binder.  It takes a chunk out of your day and gives you an immediate sense of satisfaction

     

    You feeling a little lost.  Try and set a schedule this will have you stay focused, give you something to look forward to and there is comfort in routine.

    Signing up — helpful tips.
    - To sign up, go to www.yoga170.com/schedule and register for your class. All classes are free.
    - We encourage you to sign up at least 45 mins ahead of class if possible.
    - Then, 30 mins before class begins, you will receive an email with the link for class.
    - If you are signing up at the last minute, no worries! There will be another email reminder with the link sent 5 mins before class.
    - If you are using a computer or laptop, simply click the link from the email to join.
    - Reminder that if you’re using your phone or tablet, you need to download the Hangouts Meet by Google app (free) in advance of class. You only need to do this once.
