The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) has officially recognized the Pittsford Schools athletic program with the 2025 NIAAA Quality Program Recognition at the Exemplary Level, a distinction awarded to only a select number of high schools nationwide that demonstrate excellence in athletic program administration.

This prestigious honor is the result of a rigorous evaluation process, which involved a comprehensive review of Pittsford’s athletic policies, practices, procedures, and achievements across ten key categories of program quality. The 25th annual Rainbow Classic basketball games played on December 19, 2025, raised $32,000, helping Pittsford Schools exceed $650,000 for Golisano Children's Hospital over the past quarter century. During this sold out event at the University of Rochester Palestra, the Pittsford community showed up ready for two exciting games, and Pittsford's basketball teams did not disappoint. At the end of two hard-fought competitions, the final scores were: Girls Varsity Basketball - SHS 49/MHS 40; Boys Varsity Basketball - SHS 58/MHS 48... 

Pittsford varsity athletes demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the Fall 2025 season, capturing multiple Section V team championship titles and earning individual honors across a variety of sports. Several teams and athletes advanced to state-level competitions.

Pittsford Central School District has launched a pilot program to train student athletes in CPR, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use. Fourteen varsity athletes have already received training from some of Pittsford Schools’ Red Cross-certified coaches, and the pilot program will expand to winter and spring sports, with long-term plans to include JV and modified levels.

Spectators will also have the opportunity to participate in emergency response training at some of Pittsford’s upcoming athletic events thanks to a partnership with Rochester Regional Health (RRH). Mendon High School junior and soccer captain Danny Coyne has been selected to wear the storied #9 jersey this season, a tradition that honors alumnus Todd Pelino, who was killed in the 9/11 attacks while working at the World Trade Center. Each year, teammates and coaches choose a player to carry on Pelino’s legacy, and this fall, that honor goes to Coyne.
