Pittsford Central School District has launched a pilot program to train student athletes in CPR, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use. Fourteen varsity athletes have already received training from some of Pittsford Schools’ Red Cross-certified coaches, and the pilot program will expand to winter and spring sports, with long-term plans to include JV and modified levels.

Spectators will also have the opportunity to participate in emergency response training at some of Pittsford’s upcoming athletic events thanks to a partnership with Rochester Regional Health (RRH). Mendon High School junior and soccer captain Danny Coyne has been selected to wear the storied #9 jersey this season, a tradition that honors alumnus Todd Pelino, who was killed in the 9/11 attacks while working at the World Trade Center. Each year, teammates and coaches choose a player to carry on Pelino’s legacy, and this fall, that honor goes to Coyne.

The Pittsford Panthers kicked off the 2025 High School Football Season in a game against the Victor Blue Devils for the 7th Annual Teddi Bowl to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times on September 4 at St. John Fisher University.

As part of the tradition, campers from Camp Good Days took the field as honorary coaches and cheerleaders, creating unforgettable memories. On the scoreboard, Pittsford came away with a 27–17 win over Victor, but the real victory was the community’s support for Camp Good Days and its mission to support children and families affected by cancer and sickle cell anemia.

The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) has officially recognized the Pittsford Schools athletic program with the 2025 NIAAA Quality Program Recognition at the Exemplary Level, a distinction awarded to only a select number of high schools nationwide that demonstrate excellence in athletic program administration.

This prestigious honor is the result of a rigorous evaluation process, which involved a comprehensive review of Pittsford’s athletic policies, practices, procedures, and achievements across ten key categories of program quality. Congratulations to our winter athletes who completed the 2024-25 season with five team Section V titles, nine individual Section V titles and numerous All State, All County and All Greater Rochester athletes. Team Section V champions included Pittsford Girls Alpine, Pittsford Ice Hockey, Pittsford Boys Swimming & Diving, MHS Boys Indoor Track and Field, and SHS Girls Basketball.
