Unified Sports

Pittsford Schools is proud to be one of the first school districts in Section V to become a participant in Unified Sports. The Pittsford Schools, together with New York State Public High School Athletic Association and Special Olympics New York, is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports joins students with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team to create athletic teams for training and competition. Participation is rooted in the principle of meaningful involvement which ensures that every player is given an opportunity to contribute to the success of their team through their unique skills. Inclusive activity is among the most conducive ways to break down stereotypes, increase school connectedness and foster relationships.
