Superintendent's Welcome

I am honored to serve as Superintendent of Pittsford Central School District. With the majority of my career being at Pittsford Schools, first as a teacher and later as a principal and administrator, I care deeply about ensuring that every student is supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. We remain committed to fostering an environment where all students, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance, have equitable access to the opportunities, resources, and relationships they need to thrive and to exemplify our District’s mission to “be their best, do their best, and make a difference in the lives of others.”

PCSD continues to rank among the top school districts in both Monroe County and New York State. I am proud of our students, educators, and staff, who demonstrate every day the lasting impact of a high-quality and equitable education. More than 97% of our students pursue college after graduation, and although each follows a unique path, our alumni consistently share how their school experiences here continue to influence their lives in meaningful ways.

Collaboration and teamwork remain cornerstones of our leadership. Clear, effective communication is essential to that partnership. PCSD uses a variety of platforms to stay connected with our community, and I encourage you to engage with the District and stay informed about all the great things happening across our schools. Together, we will continue building a community where each student feels a strong sense of belonging and has every opportunity to succeed.

About the Superintendent

Shana Cutaia began her career with Pittsford Central School District in 2003 as a social studies teacher at Barker Road Middle School. She later became assistant principal at Brighton’s Twelve Corners Middle School before returning to Pittsford in 2014 as principal of Barker Road Middle School, a position she held until 2021. Under her leadership, the school was named a National School to Watch and the top middle school in Monroe County by the “Rochester Business Journal.”

In 2021, Cutaia was appointed Director of Student Services, overseeing areas including health and safety, counseling, nursing services, and social-emotional support programs. On December 1, 2025, she became Superintendent of Pittsford Schools.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from Nazareth University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from St. John Fisher University. She also earned certifications in School District Administration from SUNY Brockport and Human Resources Management from Cornell University. Most recently, she participated in the Future Superintendent’s Academy (2023–2024) and Harvard University's “Civic Leadership in the Superintendency” program (2024).

Cutaia and her husband are Pittsford residents with two children who attend Pittsford Schools.
