Induction & Mentor Program
The Pittsford Central School District Mentor Program is part of the District's Induction Program. The purpose of the program is to assist new teachers in making a successful transition to the district.
Our mentors are experienced, tenured professionals capable of assisting a new teacher in making a successful transition. Mentors act in a collaborative, non-evaluative advisory role. Mentor responsibilities include:
- Assisting the new teacher
- Meeting with the new teacher on a regular basis
- Observing the new teacher a minimum of 5 times per year
- Meeting with the larger mentor/new teacher group regularly
- Participating in the District's New Staff Orientation Day
- Participating in ongoing professional learning
- Facilitating the growth and development of the new teacher
- Arranging for the new teacher to observe other teachers
