Induction & Mentor Program

The Pittsford Central School District Mentor Program is part of the District's Induction Program. The purpose of the program is to assist new teachers in making a successful transition to the district.

Our mentors are experienced, tenured professionals capable of assisting a new teacher in making a successful transition. Mentors act in a collaborative, non-evaluative advisory role. Mentor responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the new teacher
  • Meeting with the new teacher on a regular basis
  • Observing the new teacher a minimum of 5 times per year
  • Meeting with the larger mentor/new teacher group regularly
  • Participating in the District's New Staff Orientation Day
  • Participating in ongoing professional learning
  • Facilitating the growth and development of the new teacher
  • Arranging for the new teacher to observe other teachers

If you would like more information regarding the Mentor Program, please refer to the files below or contact Nicole Barry in the Teacher Center.
