NEW PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IDEAS & RESOURCES!!

     Leave the Clubs at Home!

Maybe last weeks suggestions of a hike or run through the woods, or sitting on the shore fishing isn't your style.  You want a bit of a challenge while out in nature and getting fresh air!  Try disc golf!!  You don't need top-of-the-line discs to go out and enjoy a round of disc golf (although you should bring them if you have them), a common frisbee or two will do the job just fine.  Follow the link below to find all the info you need, including courses and scorecards!!  OR make up your own course in a nearby area.  I tried this for the first time last week at an Apple farm in Victor and had a good time and walked about 5 miles in the process.  Don't forget your SUNBLOCK!     Click here for Rochester Disc Golf information

    TAKE A WALK!

Get that good play list on and get outside for 30 minutes and walk, FRESH AIR IS BEST! You can't get sick from the outside air and your adding some natural Vitamin D to your body. If you can't get outside here is a link to a walking workout for inside.

Keep track of your walks with Map My Walk App or Map My Ride (for getting on your bike) Screen shot it and keep it as a journal of your activities while remotely learning!

    Take a Hike!

This is the perfect time of year to go explore new running, hiking, and biking trails in our area.  The fresh air and tranquility of being in nature is perfect for taking a break from studying and hanging around the house.  Here is a link for local trails (in or near Pittsford) or try the resource below!

Download the AllTrails App!!!  It is a free App that helps hikers to find their next trail.  Just create an account, type in a city, park, or trail name, and you will receive a list of trails in that area with reviews, directions to the trail, the trail difficulty, and a trail map.  The app also keeps track of which trails you have completed!  This is the perfect resource for the avid hiker.

    Gone Fishing...!

With the rainy season upon us, there are ample opportunities to go fishing!  Fishing can be a relaxing way to spend time away from the hustle and bustle, while testing your skill and luck at catching the big one!  Remember, in New York, a fishing license is required for anyone 16 and older!  Check the takemefishing.org website for more details specific to NY regulations.  Most importantly, practice safety!!  Wear a life jacket, be cautious of changing water conditions, and only fish in areas deemed safe enough to do so!

Below is a useful guide to fishing in Monroe County:
