Laura Hefner is a Pittsford graduate. She earned her BS from the University of Tennessee, Master of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado, and Educational Specialist degree from the University of Colorado. For 9 years she taught in Buena Vista, CO where she worked with students at the high school level with special needs and those considered at-risk.

Ms. Hefner later became the Principal for the district's alternative high school where she successfully implemented an intentional cultural and placed higher expectations upon students which led to increased student achievement and responsible behavior choices. During her principalship she also served as the district's special education coordinator.

Upon moving her family back home she worked at Monroe#1 BOCES as an Assistant Principal and then as the Coordinator of Paraeducator Services. Ms. Hefner has experience with positive culture implementation, data-driven instruction, human resource management, instructional leadership and professional development. She, her husband and two children reside in Pittsford.

Kelly A. Zielke, a Webster resident with her husband and two sons, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics Education from SUNY Geneseo, and her Master of Science in Education with a concentration in computer education from Nazareth College. She also earned her School District Leadership and School Building Leadership administrative certificates from the University of Rochester's Warner School.

Ms. Zielke spent 20 years in a secondary classroom teaching computer programming and mathematics. Before coming to Pittsford, she had experiences as the substitute Assistant Principal at Webster Thomas, and the Principal of the Monroe 1 BOCES Cooperative Summer School serving students from four area school districts. Ms. Zielke has leadership experience with staff development, human resource management, technology support, and community relations. During her teaching career, Ms. Zielke worked to increase student enrollment in Mathematics, was active in creating a safe and positive school culture as part of the C.A.R.E. team, and had been an officer for the New York State Math League annual competition. While serving as union president in her former district, Ms. Zielke won the Community Service Award for outstanding service to local charitable organizations.

At Mendon High School, Ms. Zielke works closely with the PE, Health, Art, English and Mathematics departments; and works with students and families whose last names end in A - L. She enjoys time working with the SEL team to ensure a safe and caring school environment and helping Student Government plan events. You can often find her attending events to see Mendon students participating in art and music, athletics, or scholastic competitions. Located adjacent to the main office, Ms. Zielke has an open door policy for all students to share concerns, ask questions, or just say "Hello".
