A Message from Superintendent Pero: Supporting Student Opportunities

As we navigate the increasing costs of education, I wish to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of the Pittsford Education Foundation (PEF) as they support the Pittsford Central School District through philanthropic funding to ensure all students at PCSD have equitable access to exceptional educational and social opportunities. The PEF is comprised of an independent volunteer board of dedicated community members. Since it was established in 1992, PEF has supported educational, technological, and athletic initiatives. The positive impact has had a long-lasting effect on making our students’ lives better.

You can support these efforts by participating in an upcoming night of fun & snow tubing with your friends & family at the Links at Greystone on Sunday, February 4. There are two 90-minute sessions, one at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, and you can register online.

Another way to offer support is later this year, members of the PCSD community can again spread messages of thanks and appreciation to staff members with Positivity Postcards. All proceeds go towards supporting the Pittsford Education Foundation, which in turn supports Pittsford students and the community.

In 2020, the PEF received a $100,000 donation from 84VIKINGSGOOD, a MHS alum group that wanted to support our Urban Suburban program across our nine schools. These funds have been used for a spectrum of supports including personal computers for college, tuxedos for proms, sneakers, AP exam fees, clothes, yearbooks, grocery and gas cards, college application fees, orientations, PCSD clothing, other personal expenses and more.

I encourage you to explore the various ways you can get involved – from nominating a PCSD staff member through the Honor an Educator Program to making a tax-deductible donation or contacting the Pittsford Education Foundation to learn more about volunteer opportunities. Your contributions, big or small, play a crucial role in making a lasting impact on our students' lives.
