Pittsford Students Advance to States Following Regional DECA Competition

Twenty-nine students received awards at the DECA Regional competition at RIT held on December 14, 2023, and will advance to the New York State competition in the spring. Those students were among the fifty Mendon High School students and forty-eight Sutherland High School students who competed, along with 750 students across the Rochester area.

In March 2024, the students will compete against schools all over New York State to represent New York at the international conference in California in April.

Congratulations to the following Mendon students: Amani Babigian, Raye Bell, Hailey Benzel, Curran Deehan, Kat Delate, Gregory Demos, Akaash Ejantkar, Sophie Girgis, Asher Gupton, Hailey Herrgott, Haroon Hussain, Ryan Iacobucci, Lillian Kelly, Marin Kilmer, Scarlett Laird, Peter Matzke, Dylan Parrinello, Jaden Singer, Madeline Wabnitz, Jillian Wexler, and Lindsay Whitaker.

Congratulations to the following Sutherland students for advancing in the individual event categories: Luke Alva, Martina Calabrese, Lea Rashid, Isaac Rizzo, Sohan Shrikhande, Alexandra Sippel, Emma Pichette, and Felix Warrington, and to the following Sutherland teams for advancing in the Team Decision-Making events: Nicholas Brand and Jonathan Power, and Piper Burdick and Elizabeth Power.

DECA prepares students to be leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management by integrating their classroom instruction of national curriculum standards with rigorous project-based activities. DECA partners with businesses to provide realistic insight into industries and promotes meaningful and relevant learning that prepares students for college and careers.
