Once these plans are released from SED, Pittsford Central School District will create bid specifications and invite prospective contractors to review the plans and conduct walk throughs of the properties.
It is expected that contracts for Phase II will be awarded in the spring of 2025 and construction will begin in the summer of 2025. Construction will take place over the next four years and will occur year-round.
In line with the District’s goal of providing the best and safest learning environments for our students, Phase I focused on safety upgrades including the construction of single-point-of-entry, double-door vestibules; the installation of intruder locks in large areas of assembly; enhancements to security systems with a new Visitor Aware point of entry software system and upgrades to security cameras and PA systems; window and roof repairs; and improvements to air quality with HVAC system upgrades and replacements where needed.
As we enter Phase II of this multi-year capital improvement project, the focus continues to remain on maximizing the safety and efficacy of academic and athletic facilities while minimizing disruption to students and staff during the construction process. Safety meetings with construction teams are held on a regular basis, and strict adherence to safety protocols is maintained throughout each phase of the project.
Highlights of Phase II construction include the following:
· The renovation of Mendon High School science rooms along with a new addition to the school that will include new science and language classrooms.
· There will be significant renovations at Barker Road Middle School. These will include the creation of a central commons area and cafeteria along with the addition of several classrooms that will replace the temporary classrooms in the portable building. Modifications will also be made to classrooms for the subjects of band, technology and world languages.
· Calkins Road Middle School will receive a new protective coating to its roof.
· Improvements to Mendon and Sutherland High Schools’ outdoor athletic spaces will include new tennis courts as well as improved drainage systems on the baseball and softball fields.
· Existing tennis courts at Sutherland High School will be converted to pickleball courts.
