Honoring our Board of Education—Champions for Students, Partners for Progress
The Pittsford Central School District recently joined schools across New York State in celebrating School Board Recognition Week (October 13–17). This annual observance honors the people who serve on Boards of Education for their commitment, leadership, and advocacy on behalf of students and their communities.
Our Board of Education is comprised of seven exceptional individuals who volunteer their time, energy, and expertise to help guide the vision and direction of our District:
- Jeffrey Casey, President
- Sarah Pelusio, Vice President
- Dave Berk
- Kim Huels
- Emily Kay
- René Sanchez-Kazacos
- Robin Scott
As superintendent, I see firsthand the dedication of our Board members. They make thoughtful, informed decisions that help shape our educational programs, support staff, and enhance the student experience. Their work extends far beyond attending meetings. It involves studying budgets, reviewing policies, advocating for resources, and ensuring that every decision aligns with our District’s mission to inspire and prepare students to be their best, do their best, and make a difference in the lives of others. In addition, they commit to visiting each of our schools monthly at 7:30 am to talk with staff and to assess any capital project needs.
Board members also play a vital role in strengthening the partnership between Pittsford Schools and the community. By engaging in long-term planning, setting academic and fiscal priorities, and upholding high standards for achievement, our Board ensures that Pittsford CSD remains a place where all students can thrive.
The success of Pittsford Schools and its students is built upon the collaboration between our educators, families, and community, with the Board of Education providing steadfast guidance at the center of that partnership. On behalf of our entire District, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Pittsford’s Board of Education for their tireless service, dedication to excellence, and unwavering support of every student.
