UDPATE: Barker Road Middle School Closed July 9 until July 13 Due to Planned Electrical Shutdown

UPDATE: Barker Road Middle School Closed July 9 until July 13 Due to Planned Electrical Shutdown

As part of the ongoing construction and renovation project at Barker Road Middle School and a planned electrical shutdown, the building will be closed from Thursday, July 9, at approximately 8 a.m. until Monday, July 13 when power restoration is scheduled to occur around 8-9 a.m.  (This is a change from the original dates of June 26-30).

The temporary closure is necessary to allow contractors to safely complete critical electrical work associated with the school's renovation project. During this period, power to the building will be unavailable, making the facility inaccessible for normal operations.

All staff members and summer workers who would typically be assigned to Barker Road Middle School will be temporarily relocated to alternate work locations. Supervisors have communicated relocation details directly to affected employees.

In addition, the building will be closed to all visitors, community groups, and scheduled meetings during the shutdown. No public access will be permitted while the electrical work is underway.

The electrical shutdown represents an important milestone in the renovation project, which includes significant upgrades to instructional spaces, technology classrooms, music areas, corridors, and the new kitchen and serving area. These improvements are scheduled to support the continued modernization of the school and enhance learning environments for students and staff.

Normal building operations are expected to resume on Monday, July 13, following the completion of the electrical work.

The District appreciates the patience and cooperation of staff, families, and community members as construction continues and these important facility improvements move forward.
