Pittsford CSD Establishes Framework for Ethical and Effective AI Use in Education

As technology continues to evolve, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly important tool in education. The Pittsford Central School District (PCSD) recognizes the potential of AI to enhance learning, streamline operations, and foster creativity. Therefore, the District is committed to ensuring that AI is used ethically, responsibly, and in ways that uphold the core values of education, equity, and human connection. 

To support this commitment, Pittsford Schools has developed a resource entitled “Guidelines for the Appropriate Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Pittsford Central School District.” It addresses considerations when using AI; the appropriate use by faculty, staff, and students; how to ensure compliance with New York State Education Law 2D; and ways PCSD will monitor AI and its use.  “This resource serves to empower staff and students to harness the benefits of AI, while also maintaining academic integrity, safeguarding privacy, and fostering critical thinking,” said Superintendent Pero.
