Pittsford Student Gains Real-World Experience as Communication Intern

Sutherland High School senior Grace Martin spent some of her summer getting an inside look at the world of school communications as an intern with the Pittsford Schools Communication Office.

During her internship, Grace worked on a multi-media communication campaign to inform students and staff about single stream recycling, a new sustainability initiative the district is participating in with Monroe County. She also honed her skills building infographics and learned how to use a digital social media management tool to load and schedule posts for the district’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.

“My time with the Pittsford Schools’ Communications Department was an incredibly rewarding experience. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and develop new skills while working alongside a supportive team,” said Grace.

“Working with Grace was terrific,” said Director of Communication Nancy Wayman. “She was eager to learn, quickly absorbed new information, and produced professional-quality work. Her creativity, adaptability, and ability to master new software and social media management tools were truly exceptional.”

Keep an eye and ear out for Grace’s public service announcements about single stream recycling that will be read during morning announcements as well as a video, article and social media posts which will be included in district newsletters, the website, Instagram and Facebook.
