MHS Soccer Player Colden Forney to Wear #9 Jersey in Honor of Alum Todd Pelino

IMG_7339.jpgMendon High School soccer players start each school year looking forward to the season ahead while looking to the past to determine who will wear jersey #9 in honor of alum Todd Pelino who was killed on 9/11 while working at the World Trade Center. This year, MHS junior Colden Forney was selected for the honor of wearing #9. The tradition carries on the memory of Todd Pelino who was a standout soccer player known for his scholarship and leadership, both on the field and off.

“Colden embodies the best characteristics of Todd Pelino. He is a respected teammate who leads with his heart in everything he does,” said Mendon varsity coach Mark Hurley.

“I’m just honored to carry on this legacy and the legacy of the players that played before me and most importantly Todd Pelino,” Forney said.

Forney was recognized during a remembrance ceremony at the beginning of the September 12, 2023, game in the company of former #9 jersey wearers Connor Krapf and Adrian Padilla.
