Pittsford Central School District’s Board of Education elected its president and vice president at its annual reorganization meeting on July 14, 2026. Sarah Pelusio was elected as president, and Jeff Casey was elected as vice president.

Ms. Pelusio was elected to the Board of Education in 2021 and served as Vice President for the 2025-26 and 2024-25 school years. Mr. Casey has been a member of Pittsford’s Board of Education since 2021, served as president from 2025-26, president-elect from 2024-25, and vice president from 2023-24.

Student Ex Officio Board Members to Represent Student Voice

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mendon High School senior Mesude Yusra Ersoz and Sutherland High School senior Sora Kawakyu-O'Connor have been selected to serve as ex officio members of the Pittsford’s Board of Education for the 2026-27 school year. They will work alongside the district’s seven elected board members to represent student perspectives. Both were chosen by their school principals following a collaborative process involving teachers and student leaders.

Returning for a second year as an ex officio board member, Mesude said she plans to build on her experience and connect with more students to better advocate for their needs and provide a diverse and comprehensive view of the experiences, concerns, and ideas of the student body. “The most meaningful takeaway from my first year was seeing how willing students were to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas with me,” said Mesude. “Knowing that students trusted me to represent their voices was incredibly rewarding and reinforced how important and necessary student representation is for our district,” she said.

As a new ex officio member of the board, Sora hopes to be a voice for students and help build communication between the administration and the student body. In preparing for this new role, Sora said she is honored to have been selected to represent the students in Pittsford this year and is excited to be able to share what students are doing throughout the year. “It is important that students feel heard and advocated for, as the board makes important decisions for us all. It is a privilege to be a part of this process,” she said

Student board members sit with the board at all public meetings and hearings and may take part in other board activities at the board’s discretion. While they do not have voting rights, they are free to participate in all public board discussions.
