Interim Principal Appointed at Jefferson Road Elementary School 

The open principal position at Jefferson Road Elementary School is currently posted and interviews will begin in early August. The goal is to have a new principal in place by October. As a provisional step, Audra Schmitt has been appointed as interim principal. She will start on August 11, 2025.  

Schmitt has outstanding experience as a building leader. She most recently supported Sutherland High School as an Assistant Principal for half the school year. She previously served as the Principal of Livonia High School and the Executive Director of K-12 Social Studies for the Rochester City School District where she supervised the social studies program for 52 schools. Prior to these roles, she served as the assistant principal at Calkins Road Middle School and was PCSD’s Secondary Social Studies Standards Leader, a position that entailed the development of curriculum and assessments for students in grades 6 through 12.  

Before serving in administrative positions, she taught global history and geography in the Pittsford, Brighton, Gates and Greece Central School Districts. She also served as an adjunct instructor at SUNY Brockport and Medaille College.  

Schmitt received her Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education from Arizona State University, her Master of Science degree in general education from Nazareth University and her Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration from SUNY Oswego.
