Nicole Barry has been hired as the new Teacher Center Director, beginning July 1, 2024. She replaces Julie Barker who is retiring after many years of service to the Pittsford School District, the last 17 of which she served as Teacher Center Director.
Ms. Barry has been with Pittsford for 21 years, teaching Social Studies at Mendon High School. For the past nine years, she has also served as the Secondary Social Studies Standards leader, effectively leading the Social Studies department through the implementation of new standards and assessments.
Barry has been involved in many professional learning opportunities over the years, as both a participant and a facilitator. She was part of the Monroe Assessment Project (MAP), a multi-year embedded professional learning program focused on high quality formative assessment and feedback. Since participating in MAP, she has led professional learning experiences on formative assessment locally, as well as at both state and national conferences. Barry has also led the work on the use of instructional technology in the classroom and has helped to develop and facilitate Pittsford’s Equity Series modules. Professional learning is a true passion for Ms. Barry, one which she is excited to bring to her new role as Teacher Center Director.
