Two Students Place at Statewide SkillsUSA Competition

The 2024 New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championships took place at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY from April 24-26. Pittsford Central School District was represented at the event by students who are enrolled at the Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) at Monroe One BOCES.

Two Pittsford students placed first in their competitions: Josie DeFelice came in first place with the rest of her Automated Manufacturing Technology Team. Katsiaryna Liavanava received first place in the Commercial Baking competition.

EMCC students competed in areas ranging from cosmetology and esthetics to collision repair and construction electricity. The students who took first place in the state competition are eligible to compete at the national level. The SkillsUSA Championships welcome more than 6,000 state champions from across the country to compete in 115 skilled and leadership tasks. This year, the national competition is June 24-28, 2024.

Congratulations, Josie and Katsiaryna! #PittsfordPride
