Superintendent Update: Reopening Plans (4/9/21)

Dear Families,

Welcome back. As we await further guidance from New York State, know that our planning in the hopes of fully re-opening schools has been ongoing. It is my understanding that the New York State Department of Health may be coming out with new guidelines this evening that may allow PCSD to re-open with three feet of social distancing.

In the meantime, our Scenario Planning Committee met for a full day this week to identify and troubleshoot every classroom in each of our secondary buildings that might pose a configuration issue with three feet of social distancing. Our transportation department has worked on re-routing buses and we have ordered necessary materials and furniture. Outside of logistical issues we also planned for what a return for students would look like from a mental health perspective.

It is my intent to provide you with a complete update on Monday relative to our course of action for re-opening knowing that our plans must align with NYSDOH. Please stay tuned and thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Michael Pero
Superintendent
