In my email to you yesterday, I shared that we were waiting for Guidance from New York State on masking and shared with you our interim plan. Since that email, school districts have received this Guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, the New York State Governor’s Office and the New York State Education Department.
Starting tomorrow and through the end of the school year the following will take place:
Masks are optional for adults and students when outdoors. Formal Guidance on this is forthcoming
Masks are required indoors, however given the weather forecast for high heat this week, extended mask breaks inside classrooms will be allowed
We will be as flexible as possible with students who struggle with the heat indoors. We are down to our last couple of weeks of school, so please hang in there.
Finally, please join me in advocating for change to these school requirements in September by contacting the Governor’s office. Thank you.
