Possible Bus Delays/Cancelations (1/2/2022)

Dear PCSD Families,

As we prepare to resume school tomorrow, we are currently seeing staffing levels in the Transportation Department that put us right at the necessary minimum limit. We anticipate there will be some combined routes which could cause delays of up to two hours, and some routes may be canceled. We are sending this now so you can make arrangements to get your child to school in the event your bus route is canceled due to staffing.

We will not know until approximately 6:30 a.m. You will be notified shortly after this time if you are affected. Please check your email early tomorrow morning for notification in case there is a change in your child’s bus schedule.

PCSD remains committed to staying open for in-person instruction. Our schools remain a safe place for students and staff, with very little evidence of transmission within our buildings.

PCSD Testing Clinics and Home Tests

We will have a testing clinic starting Sunday, January 2, 2022 through Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 4:30-6:30 pm. Next week the clinic will be available Monday, January 10, 2022, through Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4:30-6:30 pm. at the Barker Road Middle School (75 Barker Road). Please enter through Door 3.

Another distribution of rapid antigen COVID-19 test kits to school districts is planned for this week. These kits are intended for families to screen at home for possible COVID-19 infection in an effort to limit further spread of the virus.

It is my hope that we can distribute these test kits in the same manner we distributed test kits just prior to break. We will use the previous survey results. In the event you did not elect for a test kit, and would like one, please email your building principal. In the event you elected to pick up the test kit, principals will be sending specific directions for pick up procedures.

Any student showing symptoms of COVID-19 must be kept home from school. I am asking for your diligence with this.

Remember, if your child is in need of any mental health or other supports as they return to school, please call your school principal. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your building principal or to me directly.

Thank you for your continued support.

Happy New Year,

Michael Pero

Superintendent of Schools
