Art Students Recognized with Scholastic Art Awards

Pittsford Central School District high school art students won a combined 27 Scholastic Art Awards this year. Rachel Doane, an 11th grade Mendon High School student, was awarded a National Silver Medal for work that demonstrated “high honors on the national level.” Her photography submission, “Kids in Water,” was selected from the nearly 340,000 works of art and writing submitted nationally to the Scholastic Awards in 2018/19.

Twenty-six PCSD students received regional awards as part of the “Northeast Region at Large” group which included approximately 7,000 entrants from New York State, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Contemporary artists judged student work and recognized students with awards in three categories: Gold Key, Silver Key and Honorable Mention.
