In a new ranking released by the Democrat and Chronicle on January 8, 2020, Pittsford Central School District was at the top of the list of Monroe County schools to send the most students to Harvard, Princeton and Massachusetts Institute of Technology during 2015-2018. PCSD had a total of 15 graduates from those schools, which exceeded the number of students coming from any other Monroe County school district during that time period.
Pittsford Mendon High School had two graduates at Harvard, one at Princeton, and two at MIT. Pittsford Sutherland High School had two graduates at Harvard, six at Princeton and two at MIT.
The ranking was compiled by PolarisList who states that the study was based only on enrollment at Harvard University, Princeton University and MIT due to "selectivity and their accessibility to lower-income students.” It did not include numbers from other Ivy League universities. With over 12,600 records, PolarisList is the largest aggregator of Harvard, Princeton, and MIT matriculation data for U.S. high schools.
The other Monroe County schools included in the Democrat and Chronicle’s ranking were Brighton High School, Allendale Columbia School, McQuaid Jesuit, Hilton High School, Honeoye-Falls Lima High School, Irondequoit High School, Our Lady of Mercy, Penfield High School, and Rush-Henrietta.
