Jazz Appreciation Month (fondly known as "JAM") was created by the Natural Museum of American History in 2001 to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz for the entire month of April. JAM is intended to stimulate and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz - to study the music, attend concerts, listen to jazz on radio and recordings, read books about jazz, and more.
Duke Ellington, was born Edward Kennedy Ellington on April 29, 1899, and died May 24, 1974 He was an American pianist who was a great jazz composer and bandleader of his time. One of the originators of big-band jazz, Ellington led his band for more than half a century, composed thousands of scores, and created one of the most distinctive ensemble sounds in all of Western music.
Count Basie, byname of William Basie, was born August 21, 1904, and died April 26, 1984 American jazz musician noted for his spare, economical piano style and for his leadership of influential and widely heralded big bands.He was one of jazz music's all-time greats, bandleader-pianist Count Basie was a primary shaper of the big-band sound that characterized mid-20th century popular music.

What Causes Autism?
Autism is something people are born with. No one knows exactly what causes it. It probably has something to do with a kid's genes and other things that change the way the brain develops.
Each of us learns differently. Celebrate your learning, think about others and open your mind to diversity.
On Saturday the boys soccer team opened the season with a convincing 9-0 victory over Webster Spry. Leading the scoring was Stefano Mihalitsas 2 goals. Also scoring was Griffin Nerone, Ben Zombek, Naveen Bansal, Farhan Sheikh, Charlie Ryan, Joe Arikkat and Diego Hontoria. Assisting on goals was Griffin Nerone (2), Vyom Sambhy and Joe Arikkat.
Get your head in the game 7th/8th graders! Don't miss your chance to be a part of the 7th/8th grade musical this year: High School Musical Jr. Auditions are this Friday and Saturday. Attention sixth graders! It's not too late to join the 6th Grade Drama Club. Rehearsals will start either Monday, April 12th or Friday, April 16th depending on which day you sign up for. We are excited to announce that the 2021-2022 Agenda Cover Contest has been extended until April 16th! 6th & 7th graders please remember that covers must include the words Creative, Resilient, Mindful & Spirited. No computer-generated art will be accepted and all submissions must fit on a standard ( 8 ½ x 11) piece of paper. Please drop them off to Mrs. Keeler in the main office.
Family ID registration is currently open for the Spring Season. The Spring season starts April 26th for track, baseball, softball, lacrosse and field hockey. Please go to familyId.com and register.
