Stephanie Barg Hired as Coordinator of Social Emotional Learning

Pittsford CSD has hired Stephanie Barg as Coordinator of Social Emotional Learning, beginning July 1, 2022. Under the direction of Director of Student Services Shana Cutaia, Barg will provide leadership and direction toward ensuring that all students develop the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in school and life.

She will lead and facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of a coordinated, comprehensive and integrated approach to social emotional learning (SEL) and behavioral supports across district-wide initiatives. She will also provide regular and ongoing support to school mental health teams across the District and will work with internal and external providers to ensure appropriate levels of service.

As Student Services Specialist/Teacher on Special Assignment for Pittsford Schools since September 2021, Barg has assisted the Director of Student Services in the coordination, delivery, evaluation and refinement of policies, programs and professional learning. Barg also provides support to school mental health teams, and co-led the Trauma, Illness, and Grief response in the District. In this position, she also serves as Chair of the PCSD Health and Wellness Committee, and manages the URMC’s Expanded School Mental Health clinic at PCSD.

Barg has been a General Education Teacher for Pittsford Schools since 2012 for grades 1, 2 and 5. Prior to her employment with Pittsford Schools, she served as a long-term substitute in Waterloo Central School District, and a fourth-grade teacher for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL.

Barg earned a B.A. in History from University at Buffalo, a M.S. in Inclusive Childhood Education from Nazareth College, and a M.S.Ed. in Educational Leadership from St. John Fisher College. She was awarded the Distinguished Leader Award from her cohort at St. John Fisher College, and is certified as a School District Leader in NYS.
