Pittsford Schools congratulates Mendon High School senior Peter Foley for being the 2023 recipient of the Rochester International Jazz Festival/Eastman School of Music Jazz (RIJF/ESM) Scholarship! The award will be presented during the festival's free Jazz Scholarship Concert on Monday, June 26, at 8:00 p.m. at Kodak Hall.

Foley is currently studying double bass at Eastman School of Music and plans to continue his musical education at Eastman this coming fall. He is also a member of the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Mendon High School varsity football team.

The scholarship program is made possible through the financial support of the annual Rochester International Jazz Festival. Its mission is to provide jazz education opportunities for area high school students who have been involved with the Eastman Community Music School and the Eastman Youth Jazz Orchestra with the goal of investing in the next generation of musicians.

The CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival will be held from June 23 to July 1, 2023. Among the diverse lineup of entertainment are free performances by the Pittsford Mendon High School Jazz Band on June 25 at 3:45 p.m. and the Pittsford Sutherland High School Jazz Band on June 28 at 5:15 p.m. at the City of Rochester Jazz Street Stage.
