Three Pittsford High School Students Named Finalists for the Princeton Prize in Race Relations
Congratulations to Pittsford High School students Ameera Duarte (SHS), Muhammad Mbowe (MHS) and Django Paine (SHS) for being selected as finalists for The Princeton Prize in Race Relations! The Princeton Prize in Race Relations recognizes and rewards high school students who, through their volunteer activities, have undertaken significant efforts to advance racial equity and understanding in their schools or communities. These students will be considered for Princeton Prize in Race Relations Awards which are announced in late June or early July.
“I am incredibly proud of these student leaders who fearlessly advocate and speak to the important work that needs to be done to achieve racial equity. They lend a voice to those without a voice and are leaders who will make an impact in our schools, communities and world,” said Pittsford Schools Superintendent Michael Pero.
Each year, more than 1,600 high school students who have worked to advance racial equity in their communities receive this prestigious award. Princeton Prize in Race Relations recipients receive an award of $1,000 and are invited to participate in a Symposium on Race.
