2020-21 Sports Season Wrap-up

Mendon and Sutherland High Schools Recognized as Scholar-Athlete Schools of Distinction by NYSPHSAA

Congratulations to Mendon High School and Sutherland High School for the third consecutive year of being recognized as Scholar-Athlete Schools of Distinction by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). Only 64 high schools throughout New York State were honored with this award.

In order to receive a School of Distinction Award, a school must have all of its varsity teams qualify for and receive the Scholar-Athlete team award during their respective sports seasons. To be recognized as a Scholar-Athlete team, 75% of a team’s roster must receive a grade point average (GPA) of 90.0 or greater.

PCSD Varsity Spring Sports Teams Receive NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Honors

All Pittsford Mendon and Sutherland High School Varsity Spring Athletic Teams have been recognized as Scholar-Athlete Teams by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). Additionally, 234 Pittsford Central School District students were recognized as Scholar-Athletes for the Spring 2021 season.

At the end of each sports season, NYSPHSAA honors teams and individuals that excel in the classroom. To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition, the team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90.0. Individual student athletes earning a minimum GPA of 90.0 are recognized as Scholar-Athletes even if their team did not qualify for an award.
