COVID-19 Test Kit Distribution

Monroe County has asked local school districts to distribute free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid test kits to school-aged children for use over the winter recess. The Monroe County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is encouraging families to self-test for COVID-19 immediately before any holiday gatherings with individuals outside of their household. By providing more home tests to the community, there is a greater chance of limiting community spread before students return to class in the New Year.

The County has supplied the District with one box per student, and each box contains two tests. These tests will be distributed to families at the end of the week (December 22). Parents of K-5 students were asked to complete a survey to determine how they would like to receive the test kits. Parents of high school students are asked to tell their child if they would like them to decline the test kit, it is not mandatory.
